New year's birds

Common Cranes (Grus grus) in the Alentejo yesterday, January 6th 2014 (Photo: GS)

Very happy with my new photo lens, making a lot of bird photos now, while before I was taking photos soleley through the telescope (digiscoping).
Right now I am rebuilding my webpage, to update it and solve some technical issues.
I have been a on a intensive 4-days Tour through the Algarve and parts of the lower Alentejo until yesterday, mainly focussing on Gulls, of which we saw 11 species, including an adult Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) on Sunday. We also read about 50+ colour rings of Gulls - more about this later. Other rarities around the past days we saw were a Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) near Faro and a juvenile Great Northern Diver (Gavia immer) at the fishing harbour of Lagos.
